FREE Four-Person Mahjong Open Play on the 3rd Friday of every month beginning August 2026. There will be a class on July 31st.
You must click on the Tickets through the Eventbrite link on the specific event date in the Facebook group. in order to be registered to play at one of the 4-person tables, you must click through the events until you find the correct one, then follow the eventbrite link for that specific event. (Prizes start after Noon to allow everyone to get there or if anyone wants to eat/drink first. One per person)
PLEASE READ the details below, as this is not a limited event but will require getting a free ticket to sit at a square 4-person table with a set included.
**The free ticket registrations are for those that want to sit at the 10 four-person square tables that we'll have, and we will have 10 Mahjong sets for 40 people.
**You can play at the long tables that also have chairs with backs if you want to bring your own set and play Siamese or 3-person. You do not need to register to play those.
We don't really want to limit the amount of people, since there's so much open seating, but we only have so many square tables and sets so that's why we're doing sign ups
**If you want to learn the slight differences between 4-person and Siamese, I'd be happy to show you (very few differences)...then you can also join us for Siamese 2nd Thursdays, or make your family play with you at home!
We usually patronize Sonder by grabbing something to eat or drink
first, but if your group would like to play first that's fine, too... They also have a lunch special that includes a beverage for only $10 Play, sit out, and grab a bite or drink whenever you'd like.
We do play by NMJL rules, and we'll be using the 2026 card, so get your cards if you haven't, yet!
I have some large NMJL cards for $15 if anyone needs one
This is a beginner friendly event, but you'll need to know how to play by NMJL rules, and have played before with other people, since there won't be an instructor at this open play.
There aren't designated tables, but like other events, if you want to play slower or faster then just let me know so that everyone feels comfortable playing at their pace.
If people would like to play in their own group and not rotate, that's completely fine. If your table would like to rotate around where East will switch with a different table after a Mahj/Wall game, that's great, too...we'll establish that the day of. We just want everyone to have fun
