MASON Introduction to Sustainable Food

Curious about growing your own food but don’t know where to begin?

We’re bringing one of our most popular farm classes off the farm and into the brewery!

Join us at Sonder Brewing in Mason for a fun, hands-on event all about sustainable home food production, presented in partnership with our friends at Sonder. Whether you’re brand new to gardening or looking to sharpen your skills, this event is for you.

Jason Kamp, Director of Garden Programs at Gorman Heritage Farm, will lead an engaging indoor workshop packed with real-life garden tips and a guided seed-starting activity you’ll take home to kickstart your growing journey.

Topics include:

- Raised beds vs. in-ground planting: pros, cons, and what works best where
- Turning yard waste into healthy, thriving soil
- What to plant when: garden planning, timing, spacing, and crop selection
- Garden design questions to ask before you start
- Tools of the trade, weed control, cover cropping, and more

Plus:

* A seed giveaway to get you growing
* Digital resources to support your home food production journey

You’ll leave inspired and ready to dig into your own sustainable garden—and maybe even a little dirt under your fingernails (in the best way).

Join us for a great day of learning, planting, and enjoying a local brew with Gorman Heritage Farm and Sonder Brewing!
